How to do it

  1. Start with several minutes of easy jogging before settling into pace.
  2. Run tall with relaxed shoulders and arms swinging close to the body.
  3. Land under the hips with a quick, light cadence.
  4. Hold the planned pace or effort without rushing the first kilometer.
  5. Ease into a slow jog or walk before stopping.

Watch for

  • Starting too fast and fading late.
  • Overstriding with the foot landing far ahead of the hips.
  • Posture collapsing as fatigue rises.

Breathing

Breathe rhythmically; at an easy pace you should manage short sentences.

Tip

Run most sessions easy; speed comes from the few hard ones.
