Machine Incline Chest Press
A seated press on a machine with a reclined backrest, pushing the handles up and forward from the upper chest. It trains the upper chest, front delts and triceps along a fixed path. Choose it for stable, easy-to-load upper chest work without a spotter.

How to do it
- Set the seat so the handles start level with your upper chest.
- Sit with your back flat on the pad and feet planted.
- Pull your scapulae down and back before you grip the handles.
- Press the handles up and forward until the elbows are nearly straight.
- Lower the handles under control until you feel a stretch across the upper chest.
- Keep your head, shoulders and glutes on the pad through every rep.
Watch for
- Wrists bending back under the handles.
- Shoulders rolling forward at the top.
- Hips lifting off the seat to finish the press.
Breathing
Exhale as you press, inhale as you lower the handles.
Tip
Stop the lowering where your shoulders stay pinned to the pad; a deeper stretch is not worth them rolling forward.
